Bookmark Commander — Search & Cleanup
Take command of a thousand bookmarks.
You have thousands of bookmarks. You saved every one of them on purpose. And now you cannot find a single one — so you just google it again.
Bookmark Commander fixes both halves of that problem: finding and fixing.
Press Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac) on any page and a Spotlight overlay drops in over what you are reading. Type three letters, press Enter, you are there. No new tab, no bookmark manager, no folder archaeology.
Then open the Cleanup center and deal with the mess itself: the duplicates, the links that 404'd two years ago, the empty folders, the four folders all called "Read later".
Everything above runs entirely on your machine, at no cost. No account, no upload, no paywall on search — ever.
What you can do
⌨️ Spotlight on any page — Ctrl+Shift+K opens a search overlay on top of whatever you are reading. Type a few letters, hit Enter, you are there.
🔍 Search that actually finds it — Multi-word matching across title, URL and folder path, with t: / u: / f: operators to narrow a field, and scattered-letter (fuzzy) fallback when nothing matches exactly.
🗂️ A real side panel manager — Tree or flat results, drag to move, rename, edit URLs, save the current tab, create folders, pin any folder as your working root.
🧹 Cleanup center — 5 local tools — Duplicates, dead links, empty folders, same-name folder merging, and a 30-day Trash. All local, no cost, no time limit.
🔁 Duplicates matched by real URL rules — Toggle http/https, tracking params (utm_*, fbclid…), trailing slash and #hash, so the same page saved three ways still collapses into one group.
🔗 Dead links sorted by what came back — Only confirmed 404/410 is treated as safe to delete; 4xx, 5xx and timeouts are flagged for manual review. Adjustable concurrency, timeout and delay; pause and resume any time.
♻️ Nothing here is one-way — Every bulk delete is snapshotted to a 30-day Trash first. Restore a whole subtree, or export to a standard bookmarks HTML file.
🤖 AI Organize — optional, reviewed as a diff — Hand a messy folder (up to 500 bookmarks per run) to AI and get a proposed folder tree plus clearer titles. You approve the full diff first, and a snapshot goes to Trash before anything moves.
☁️ Cloud Backup — optional — Versioned snapshots of your whole tree — folders, order and titles, not a flat URL list — restorable on any machine.
🌍 13 languages, keyboard-first everywhere — including full RTL support.
Private by design
Search, the side panel and all five cleanup tools read your bookmarks locally through Chrome's own API and send nothing anywhere. No analytics, no tracking, no account needed.
Two features are explicitly server-side, and both are opt-in: AI Organize sends only the titles, URLs and folder paths of the bookmarks you selected (never used for training, never retained afterwards), and Cloud Backup stores the snapshot you asked for until you delete it. The dead-link scanner asks for one-time permission first, because it must contact the bookmarked sites directly to read their status codes.

Highlights
Spotlight on any page
Ctrl+Shift+K (⌘+Shift+K on Mac) opens a search overlay on top of whatever you are reading. Type a few letters, hit Enter, you are there — no new tab, no menu digging.
Search that actually finds it
Multi-word matching across title, URL and folder path, with t: / u: / f: operators to narrow a field. If nothing matches exactly it falls back to scattered-letter (fuzzy) matching instead of giving up.
A real side panel manager
Browse as a tree or as flat results, drag to move, rename, edit URLs, save the current tab, create folders, or pin any folder as your working root — all beside the page instead of in a modal.
Cleanup center — 5 local tools
Duplicates, dead links, empty folders, same-name folder merging, and a 30-day Trash. Every one of them runs on your machine, at no cost.
Duplicates matched by real URL rules
Toggle http/https, tracking params (utm_*, fbclid…), trailing slash and #hash, so the same page saved three different ways still collapses into one group. Keep-oldest and same-folder selection in one click.
Dead links sorted by what came back
Every bookmark is checked and grouped by real status: only confirmed 404/410 is treated as safe to delete, while 4xx / 5xx / timeouts are flagged for manual review. Adjustable concurrency, timeout and delay; pause and resume any time.
Nothing here is one-way
Every bulk delete is snapshotted to a 30-day Trash first — restore a whole subtree, or export Trash (or your entire tree) to a standard bookmarks HTML file.
AI Organize — optional, reviewed as a diff
With an account you can hand a messy folder (up to 500 bookmarks per run) to AI and get a proposed folder tree plus clearer titles. You approve the full diff first, and a snapshot goes to Trash before anything moves.
Cloud Backup — optional
Versioned snapshots of your whole tree kept in your account instead of on one machine — folders, order and titles, not a flat URL list. Restorable after a bad sync, a profile wipe or a new laptop.
13 languages, keyboard-first everywhere
English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Português (BR), Русский, 日本語, 한국어, हिन्दी and العربية — with full RTL support.
